Salt marshes of Guerande

Our Story

As pure as the ocean itself.

Chapter I

Where the land drinks the sea.

The Atlantic Coast of France holds a secret: the salt marshes of Guerande. Here, two thousand years of tides have carved a labyrinth of clay basins into the coastline. There are no factories. No machines. Just the ocean, the sun, and the hands of the paludiers who have guarded this tradition since Roman times.

For us, that emptiness is everything. It's what gives our salt its unmistakable character — the taste of the Atlantic, untouched by industry, unaltered by progress.

Paludier at sunrise

"The salt doesn't belong to us. We are merely its guardians, the way our fathers were, and their fathers before them."

— Jean Moreau, Paludier since 1978

Chapter II

Sun-dried. Hand-harvested. Nothing else.

Chapter III

We harvest only what the season gives.

We pay our paludiers above-market wages — because the hands that gather this salt deserve more than gratitude.

We protect the salt marshes of Guerande, advocating for their preservation against the pressures of development and climate change.

And we promise — always — that what's inside the pouch is exactly what came from the sea. Nothing added. Nothing removed. Nothing hidden.
